Understanding Hayfever: Causes, Symptoms, and Tips for Relief

How to Ease Hayfever Symptoms

  • Taking antihistamines regularly through the season is more effective at controlling your hayfever than only taking them occasionally on the high pollen days.
  • Look up the pollen forecast for your area each day and try to stay inside on high-pollen days.
  • Pollen levels are highest in the morning and evening, so it is a good idea to keep the windows closed.
  • Pollen sticks to our hair and clothes so taking a shower and changing clothing if you’ve been outside could help.
  • Drying clothes outside gives them a lovely fresh smell, but try to avoid high-pollen days, as pollen sticks to fabric. Pollen also clings to fur, so wiping down pets with a damp microfiber cloth after they’ve been outside can help remove it.
